OBITUARY - MR E. W. FORBESThe Folkestone Herald ?(April/May 1922)We regret to announce the sudden death of Mr Edward Willes FORBES, of Leas Mansions, Folkestone, on Tuesday, 25th April [1922] at the age of 59 years. Mr FORBES was a native of Folkestone, where he was very well known. He always had the welfare of his native town at heart, and was greatly esteemed for his generosity and wide sympathies. He has served on the committees of various public bodies in the town, and at the time of his death was greatly interested in the work of the local Russian Famine Relief Committee. Since the war he has divided his time between Folkestone and Victory Cottage, Brabourne, where he has done much good work. He was a Baptist of over 40 years' standing, and when in Folkestone attended the Baptist Church, Rendezvous Street, where he was greatly helped by the ministry of Dr. CARLISLE, whose friendship he much esteemed. The funeral took place at the Cemetery on Friday, the service being conducted by the Rev. E. S. HICKMOTT, pastor of Zion Baptist Chapel, Brabourne, kindly assisted by Dr, J, C, CARLISLE, of Folkestone. The chief mourners were the widow, Mr and Mrs T. J. FORBES (son and daughter-in-law), Mr and Mrs RUMSEY (son-in-law and daughter), Mr and Mrs G. A. FORBES (son and daughter-in-law), and Mr and Mrs [E. J.] MURRAY FORBES (son and daughter-in-law), Miss Alice FORBES (sister), Mr Bert HOVE (nephew), Miss MULLETT, Mr and Mrs STURGES, and Mrs HERBERT. Among other friends present were Mrs A. GREENFIELD, Miss May GREENFIELD, Mr and Mrs H. WOOD, Mr and Mrs A. S. RUMSEY, Mr Joseph SMITH, Mr G. C. WALTON F.L.S, Mr and Mrs H. W. RYE, Mr R. MOAT, Mr and Mrs STEERS, etc. Mrs E. W. FORBES and family desire to thank all sympathising friends, and to acknowledge handsome floral tributes from Miss RADFORD, Mr Alderman PEPPER, J.P., Mr R. L. SAUNDERS, Mr A. J. PRESTON and Mr STURGES. They also desire publicaly to acknowledge the kind and skilled attention of Dr ROKER EVANS and the capable funeral arrangements of Messrs HAMBROOK and JOHNS.
