Death notices: 30th May 1891
May 27, at Hamstreet Station, EDWARD WILLES, aged 75, for 47 years in the service of the South Eastern Railway Company. Much lamented.
News from Romney Marsh: 30th May 1891
DEATH OF THE HAMSTREET STATIONMASTER - Mr. Edward Willis, who has filled the position of Stationmaster at Hamstreet Station for a period of over 20 years, died on Wednesday, after three days' illness. The deceased attended to his usual duties on Saturday. During the night he was seized with an attack of bronchitis, and he kept his bed until the day of his death. Mr Willis was highly respected by everyone who had come in contact with him.

FUNERAL - The funeral of Mr Willis, the late respected stationmaster at Hamstreet, took place in Orlestone churchyard on Sunday. About 100 persons attended the funeral, which was conducted by the Revs. T. R. Mayhew (rector of Warehorne) and R. Baynes (rector of Orlestone); the Rev. E. M. Muriel (rector of Ruckinge) being also present.

Born in Folkestone, August 5th 1815
and was connected with the
South Eastern Railway for upwards
of 47 years and for 20 years station
master at Hamstreet Station.
If thou shouldst call me to resign
what most I prize, it never was mine
I only yeild thee what is thine; thy will be done
Also Sarah Ann the dearly beloved wife of the
above who entered into rest April 10th 1909.
Aged 61 years.
On that happy easter morning
all the graves their dead restore
father sister child and mother
meet once more
